NanoSonixMD (currently under development) is an add-on module that is compatible with any AFM for Scanning Near Field Ultrasound Holography (SNFUH) imaging. It consists of high resolution 40MHz signal generators for exciting sample and cantilever piezo actuators, simultaneous sampling data acquisition system and a precision lock-in-amplifier for signal analysis. NanoSonixMD communicates with AFM through the signal access module (SAM), that allows access or interruption of all input and output signals between the AFM scanner and the controller, and is controlled/ configured by NanoSonix proprietary software developed in LabVIEW. SNFUH add-on module taps photo-detector output and extracts the phase component associated with the beat frequency using the lock-in-amplifier which is fed back into the SAM to produce SNFUH phase image of the buried features. We expect to launch a fully functional prototype NanoSonixMD in next 6 to 9 months.
